What is Moodle?

Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is an open-source, free (!), and quite incredible system for developing on-line courses. It is developed by Martin Dougiamas (from Perth, Australia) and contributors from across the world.

In the Science Department at Nether Stowe, we are using Moodle to develop our e—learning zone. Using the system, teachers with no knowledge of web design can create courses for their students which include quizzes, images, resources (Word documents, web links, etc.), discussion forums and much more. Huge credit must go to Martin and the developers for making all this available free of charge.
